Position Summary:
The Director of Substations will be the strategic driver behind our portfolio of substation projects. You’ll oversee the entire life cycle of these projects, from initial design through development and maintenance, ensuring we meet both our operational goals and regulatory standards. Leading a dedicated team of engineers, project managers, and field professionals, you’ll be instrumental in advancing our mission, optimizing costs, and bringing innovative solutions to the forefront of our work.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead High-Impact Projects: Direct a $1B portfolio, largely consisting of substation projects, maintaining alignment with company goals for quality, timeliness, and budget adherence.
- Shape Strategic Direction: Develop roadmaps for new and existing substation projects that support both immediate needs and long-term growth, emphasizing sustainability and reliability.
- Inspire and Mentor Teams: Guide a diverse team, fostering a collaborative, safety-first culture and supporting each team member’s growth and development.
- Oversee Financial Performance: Manage budgets and financial performance metrics to deliver cost-effective solutions that meet both project and company objectives.
- Engage Stakeholders: Serve as a key liaison between executive leadership, project partners, regulatory agencies, and contractors to ensure project success.
- Ensure Compliance: Stay on top of regulatory standards, including environmental and safety requirements, to ensure projects meet or exceed compliance standards.
- Drive Innovation: Keep abreast of industry advancements to bring cutting-edge technology and practices into our substation designs, enhancing efficiency and sustainability.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field; Master’s degree or certifications (e.g., PE) preferred.
- 10+ years in power infrastructure or substation development, with at least 7 years in a leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated success managing high-value infrastructure projects and budgets at scale.
- Strong knowledge of substation design, construction, and operational best practices.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
- Experience navigating regulatory requirements in the energy sector.
- Familiarity with modern project management tools and a data-driven approach to risk management.
